Track & field is incredibly unique in its accessibility; there is a place for everyone in this sport, regardless of his or her athletic background or socioeconomic status.

This does not mean, however, that this is an easy sport. Stripped down to its essence, track & field is about pursuing the upper limits of each athlete’s performance potential–and doing so with a team.

Ultimately, coaching is about shaping young people. Whether your athletes are running, jumping, or throwing, they are learning lessons that will carry them through the rest of their lives.

To be a great coach, one must commit to being a lifelong learner.

Where to begin?

“A coach should never be afraid to ask questions of anyone he or she could learn from.”

-Bobby Knight
